My Vision for Education
Who I Am
I am a pediatrician with 34 years of experience. Since moving to Nelson County, I have a proven track record of service to Nelson County.
Although I have experience serving on three university faculties, being a school board member requires administrative skills. During my 28-year career in the Army, including one tour to Afghanistan, I developed, implemented and managed a program with an annual budget of $140 million. Prior to that, I managed programs with annual budgets in excess of $1 million.

Committment to children
34 years and counting as a pediatrician. My practice now is limited to volunteering with an organization the provides free medical care in underserved areas, many of which are in Virginia.

Goal
Nelson County is blessed with an excellent school superintendent, faculty and staff. Since her tenure began, the superintendent has been proactive and visionary, leading the school system to ongoing improvement and success. It will be my goal to work as a team with this excellent cadre of professionals to enhance the educational experience for ALL students.
Challenges
Together Children Thrive
While funding for our schools is stable for the upcoming year, we face significant challenges for subsequent school years. Threats to funding for behavioral health, school nurses and supplemental food are all at risk.
My administrative experience will be an asset to the board in preserving these vital elements.
